the USA and Canada. She consistently receives excellent ratings
from the many police officers she has trained across North
America. During her 16 years as a private practice clinical

CRITICAL INCIDENTS: INVESTIGATIONS
SATURDAY, MAY 20, 1:45 to 4:45 p.m.
Critical
incidents, particularly officer involved shootings, can be high profile
events that are very demanding on investigators. Dr. Artwohl will
review the research about decision making under stress, perceptual
and memory distortions in officer involved shootings, and research
being done by the Force Science Research Center. This information
will help investigators to better understand the complex psychology
and biomechanics of officer involved shootings so they can maximize
the accuracy and thoroughness of their investigations.
CRITICAL INCIDENTS: PREPARING TO SURVIVE
SUNDAY, MAY 21, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Dr.
Artwohl will review the psychology of high threat and combat situations
and the implications for physical, legal, and psychological survival.
She will review survival research from the areas of psychology, sociology,
law enforcement, investigations, and her experience talking with
hundreds of officers involved in critical incidents and use of force
situations. Participants will be given the information they need
to design and evaluate their own training programs that will enhance
peak performance of officers during critical incidents and help ensure
their survival. This class will be helpful to anyone concerned about
surviving critical incidents.
