Do You Want To Serve On The WPPA Board Of Directors?

The WPPA Board consists of 29 directors; 27 of whom must be active members who are sworn law enforcement employees, one of whom must be an active member who is a non-sworn employee, and one of whom must be a retired member. According to WPPA Bylaw IX, Section 9.2, one-third of the sworn law enforcement employee Directors must be elected each year by delegates at the annual convention. The term of office is for three years.

Qualifications
Except for the one retired member of the Board, only active members over the age of 18 years are eligible to be elected as directors. In addition, only an active member who also holds an elected position within his or her local association is eligible to be elected as a director; however, not more than two members of the same local association may serve as directors at the same time.

Meetings
The Board of Directors meets at least four times each year: in February, May, September, and December. All meetings are held at the WPPA Madison office, with the exception of the May meeting, which is held at the location of the annual convention. Special meetings may be called at any time by the President of the Association, who has the power and authority to fix the time and place of such meetings.

Compensation
Directors are compensated for mileage and receive a per diem for overnight lodging, when such lodging is required.
