Voting Delegates attending the Annual Meeting May 19-21 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells will cast their votes for the 2007-2008 Board of Directors, and the LEER, CERD, and SORD Committees.

Pursuant to the Restated Bylaws of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, Inc., “Any eligible Active Member who desires to be a candidate for an open Director seat shall inform the Secretary in writing of their candidacy at least thirty (30) days prior to the date scheduled for the Annual Meeting of Delegates. The Secretary shall verify each candidate’s eligibility and add their name to the ballot.”

Nominations will not be taken from the floor at the Annual Meeting of Delegates. You must state your intention, in writing, at least 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting.

An “Active Member” is defined as any sworn law enforcement officer other than a confidential, managerial or executive employee, and any law enforcement-related, non-sworn municipal or county employee.

LETTER OF INTENT

If you are an Active Member of the WPPA and wish to run for the Board of Directors, or the LEER, CERD, or SORD Committees, send your letter, no later than April 19, 2007, to:

In your letter, please include your department, home address, e-mail address, and telephone number. Your letter must be postmarked no later than April 19, 2007. There will be no exceptions to the deadline date.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Active Members over the age of 18 years who hold an elected position within his or her local association (including the position of WPPA Delegate) are eligible to be elected as Directors. Not more than two (2) members of the same local association may serve as Directors at the same time.

The candidates with the highest vote totals shall be elected to the Board for a three-year-term.

LAW ENFORCEMENT EMPLOYEE RELATIONS (LEER) DIVISION

The activities of the LEER Division are governed by the LEER Committee. Only Directors who are non-supervisory, sworn law enforcement employees are eligible to serve on the LEER Committee. Members of the LEER Committee are elected at the Annual Meeting of Delegates, and only Delegates representing local associations of non-supervisory, sworn law enforcement employees are entitled to vote for LEER Committee members.

CIVILIAN EMPLOYEE RELATIONS DIVISION (CERD)

The activities of the CERD division are governed by the CERD Committee. Only Active Members who are non-sworn municipal or county employees are eligible to serve on the CERD Committee. Members of the CERD Committee are elected at the Annual Meeting of Delegates, and only Delegates representing local associations of non-sworn employees are entitled to vote for CERD Committee members.

SUPERVISORY OFFICERS RELATIONS DIVISION (SORD)

The activities of the SORD division are governed by the SORD Committee. Only Active Members who are supervisory, sworn law enforcement employees are eligible to serve on the SORD Committee. Members of the SORD Committee are elected at the Annual Meeting of Delegates, and only Delegates representing local associations of supervisory, sworn law enforcement employees are entitled to vote for SORD Committee members.

WISCONSIN POLICE JOURNAL ARTICLE

An article will be published in the April 2007 issue of the Wisconsin Police Journal about those members who wish to run for election or reelection to the Board, and to the LEER, CERD, and SORD Committees. The article will include a brief bio of each person, along with their picture, if submitted. To be included in the article, please send your letter of intent no later than March 1, 2007.
