Fire Claims Home Of Local President
On February 26, 2007, the home of Jamie Voelker in the Town of Stanfold, Wisconsin, was destroyed by a fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the fire, although Jamie had an aviary with about a dozen exotic birds, all of which died.
Jamie, as the President of the Washburn County Corrections/Dispatchers Association, was negotiating a new contract for her members when the fire occurred. The building and its contents were a total loss. In addition to serving Washburn County as a corrections officer, Jamie and her husband, Roger, operate their family dairy farm. They have one son, Noah, who is a senior at Rice Lake High School.
Members of that bargaining unit assisted the Voelker Family with their immediate needs. The WPPA Business Agent for that local, Al Bitz, has set up an account at the Royal Credit Union in Rice Lake for anyone interested in aiding the Voelkers in this time of dire need.
