Greetings:
As I have mentioned in previous publications, the UMLEA Board of Directors wants to be accessible to address any questions or concerns that members in the Upper Peninsula may have. For your information, I am posting the names and home departments of our current UMLEA directors so that you can identify your regional representative.
As a Political Action Committee, our primary mission is to support our respective locals who wish to become politically involved in their own communities. Endorsement efforts that pertain specifically to your various local elections can be critical to your future successes relating to contract negotiations. Additionally, working to support candidates who support the interests of your membership can have a beneficial impact on your employee-employer relationship. Cultivating such positive relationships in the “off-season” can pay big dividends when it becomes time to bargain a new agreement.
I anticipate the next meeting of the UMLEA Board will occur sometime in April. If you have any information you would like to share with the Board or any issues you would like the Board to address, please contact your respective Board member. As always, feel free to contact me as well. In future publications, I will do my best to provide you with the information discussed at the UMLEA Board meetings, and how it might impact you.
