THE WPPA ENDORSES TOM BARRETT FOR GOVERNOR

MADISON – Surrounded by law enforcement officers at a May 12th event, Tom Barrett received the endorsement of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association in his race to become the state’s next governor.

“The WPPA has a proud history of supporting candidates in a bipartisan manner, as evidenced most recently in our endorsement of J.B. Van Hollen for Attorney General. In the race for governor, Tom Barrett is the only candidate who has a proven track record of creating jobs and promoting educational opportunities while working to protect and improve public safety,” said WPPA Executive Director Jim Palmer. “The facts speak for themselves. Most recently as Milwaukee’s mayor, Tom Barrett has collaborated with the law enforcement community to reduce violent crime by 20 percent and the homicide rate in that city to its lowest point in nearly 25 years. Milwaukeeans have been safer under Mayor Barrett, and Wisconsinites will be safer under Governor Barrett.”

The WPPA represents over 11,000 active and retired members from over 375 locals statewide. With over 70 years of service to law enforcement personnel, the WPPA is recognized as the leading law enforcement association in Wisconsin.
