WPPA Recognizes Oneida County Dispatcher
Kelly Kiewert
The
WPPA recognized Oneida County Dispatcher Kelly Kiewert at the Annual
Convention in May for the role she played in resolving the two Oneida
County incidents, for which service awards were presented to four
Oneida County deputies.
President
David Mahoney, in his recognition of Kiewert at the Awards Banquet
on Sunday, May 21, said:
In addition to presenting the annual Service Awards this year, the
WPPA would like to recognize one member among a group of members
who we often forget. Tonight we will hear many stories of bravery
and courage in the face of danger, but each of the officers who will
be recognized tonight depended on the skills, dedication, and care
of their dispatchers. Just as God created Police Officers so Firemen
would have “Heroes,” God created Dispatchers so Cops
would have guardian angels to guide and watch over them.
Oftentimes, we overlook the people who are the first to respond
when the call for help comes in. Our dispatchers are often the first
on the scene, so to speak, and we depend on them to dispatch correct
information and guide our officers into situations that are extremely
stressful and dangerous.
This evening we recognize all dispatchers for their dedication and
selfless actions. Especially, we recognize Oneida County Dispatcher
Kelly Kiewert for the professional and caring manner in which she
performed her job on February 12 and March 18, 2005.
